Common applications
- Interior joinery and trim
- Shelving, furniture and cabinetry components
- Visible framing and decorative timber work
- Projects requiring a smooth painted or finished surface
Dressed All Round (DAR) timber is planed to provide smoother faces and more consistent finished dimensions than rough-sawn timber. It is commonly chosen where the timber will remain visible, receive paint or clear finishing, or be used for interior joinery and detailed carpentry. Planing improves the finish, but suitability still depends on species, grade, treatment and the conditions where it will be installed.
Choose dressed timber when surface finish and consistent dimensions are important. Rough-sawn timber is often preferred where appearance is less important or where the project calls for a rough finish. Confirm the required finished dimensions before ordering. Related options include structural framing timber and timber weatherboard.
